New Hyde Park, NY—More than 40 Westbury residents joined Councilwoman Viviana Russell recently to sample firsthand the new North Hempstead Aquatic Center at Michael J. Tully Park during a special Westbury Day at the popular pool.

Responding to residents requests, Councilwoman Russell organized the free, four-hour swim session and soirée featuring light refreshments in the facility’s spacious party room overlooking the pool.

“It was great to get out on a Sunday afternoon to experience this wonderful facility with my immediate family and my community family,” said Councilwoman Russell.

The get-together was intended to help promote use of North Hempstead’s expansive parks system, said Councilwoman Russell, whose son Malachi Russell and six-year-old friend, Simon Johnson, also took advantage of the occasion to celebrate their respective birthdays.

New residents Jose and Michelle Johnson, who less than a month ago moved to Westbury with their four children, said of the pool:  “This is a great place to have a children’s birthday bash. It felt like a little bit of summer in the fall.”

The pool area is equipped with a giant figure-eight slide and three separate zones:  an interactive area with six water spray features, a zone with six lanes for lap swimming and a zero-depth entry zone for wading. The facility also includes a brand-new exercise room with new gym equipment and new party rooms to host your next special event.

Please call 311 to get more information on North Hempstead's Aquatic Activity Center or any other Town-related issue or concern.  Residents can also visit www.northhempsteadny.gov to obtain the latest pool rates and session dates.
