Friday, May 18, 2018, marked the fifth annual celebration of Haitian Flag Day in the Town of North Hempstead. The office of Councilwoman Viviana Russell partnered with Nassau County Legislator Siela Bynoe, Espoir Youth Program, and AKA (Haitian Support Haitian) to produce the celebration at the “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury. The event featured the musical stylings of Kontwol La, Djarara, Star Trouper, and DJ Jakido. Attendants of all ages got to enjoy the authentic Haitian food, music, and culture.
