From April 21st - 26th Councilwoman Russell spent the day at three schools through the District 1 to celebrate Earth Day. She joined The Cherry Lane School in Carle Place, Park Avenue School and Drexel Avenue School in Westbury. The Elementary schoolers were in for a day of musical fun with a performance by Paul Helou, some dancing and surprises. Because of their hard work and dedication to saving the earth, the students were given books and plants form the Town of North Hempstead. The schools throughout the district have played an active role on increasing their green thumb and decreasing their carbon footprint by planting trees and flowers around the area and placing recycling more recycling bins throughout the schools.
